Richard started as a camera operator on music videos and concert films, including projects for Belinda Carlisle, Jody Watley, and James Taylor. His design background led to an early foray into animation, including the creation of two station ID's for MTV that aired around the world. He's a graduate of Yale, where he majored in architecture.
Along with plenty of commercial work, he's currently co-director of an ongoing multimedia documentary project about New York City and the future, titled City Atlas; online at newyork.thecityatlas.org. City Atlas has been developed in partnership with the CUNY Institute for Sustainable Cities, and is the winner of a 2010 Rockefeller Foundation Cultural Innovation Fund award.
